"We have a problem though." Freya said as she sat up.

"What's wrong?" Shia asked.

"The promotion...who gets it and would the other be okay with the outcome."

The office seemed quiet this morning. They both sat at their desks pondering what to do. Do they give it up for the other or let it play out.

Freya was zoned out when she noticed her boss standing holding his office door open as he motioned for Shia to come to him.

Freya watched as Shia slowly made her way over to him. She stared into the glass windows as Shia immediately started talking and moving her hands as she spoke and pointed to Freya. She saw her boss nod before coming back out and waving to Freya to join them.

"Did she just give me the promotion?" Freya wondered.

They both sat down in the chairs as he closed the blinds.

He sat at his desk and looked at both of them.

"I have given this a lot of thought... and before either of you fuss it's final. You both deserve so much more than I am offering you but it is all I have." He stopped before continuing.

"Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand you two are in a relationship?"

Freya started panicking as her face was red. "sir I-"

"Yes we are." Shia said without hesitation.

He smiled at both of them. "You both work very well together; our progress rates have never been this high. You both are more than qualified..which is why I'm retiring."

"Sir but-" Shia started before he put his hand up.

"I have already completed all the paperwork. My husband and I have made the decision together, and we are moving to Maine and living out our lives. I'll be giving you my personal phone number and email in case you ever need to get in touch."

Shia and Freya looked at each other puzzled.

"There are a few things I need from the both of you. First being done you accept my offers? Shia you would take my place and Freya would be assisting." He started.

They both agreed with smiles.

He smiled back at them. "Good.. I'm glad. Okay next is paperwork. I also need you to sign saying I had no idea about a relationship if there is one etc. After all this I will hold a meeting and tell the staff, and we will begin the transition." He said with a big smile.

"Sir you are sure about all this?" Shia asked.

He sat back in his chair and smiled. "We have been wanting to get away from here for so long, and actually have time for each other. I'm more than sure about this. Only thing I ask is that you fire Dana and Mike. I have already signed all the paperwork for that as well and given my reasons."

"Why are you firing them?" Freya asked.

"Dana never meets her deadlines, her work is always half ass ed and I have multiple accounts of harassment." He said bluntly.

"And Mike?" Shia asked.

He sighed. "On multiple occasions he has exposed and forced himself onto me along with another employee, he wanted promotions and has tried blackmailing me multiple times as well."

"How?" Freya asked.

"Well my husband and I were frequent at a swingers club... he happened to be there as well and took photos of us and threatened to out me in the workplace as well to higher ups. Shia handed Freya the paperwork. They both stood and walked back to their desks.

Freya didn't know what to think with all this new information. Her phone pinged.

"We are going out to dinner as a couple and celebrating tonight!!" Shia sent.

Freya smiled at her phone. Thinking of them as a couple was a weird but nice feeling.

The email finally came out that there would be a staff meeting in ten minutes.

Everyone gathered into the briefing room. "Is everyone here?" Tom spoke waiting for everyone to quiet down.

"Okay, good morning everyone. I wanted to tell you all that I am retiring."

The staff erupted in talk.

Tom quieted them down again.

"I want you all to welcome the assisting CEO Freya and the CEO Shia. The owner of the company and I made this decision together. Norman is eager to see how well you all work under new management and wishes everyone the very best."

Shia and Freya began packing up their desks as Dana came around the Freya. "Assistant CEO huh?" She scoffed.

"Yup." Freya said as she organized her belongings.

"Did you ask Shia about lunch?" She asked.

"I did."

"Well?"

"She really doesn't want to.. But I think I may have talked her into at least one lunch date. Go ask." Freya said.

Dana left and made her way over to Shia who glared at her over her monitor.

"What now?" Shia asked.

"I um just wanted to say congrats and was wondering if you wanted to go out for a celebratory lunch or drink after work?"

Arriving at a restaurant of Dana's choosing, they sat, ordered their food and had a bland conversation.

"Well answer her." Dana said.

"No it's okay, I'll call her once we are done here."

Dana left to pay the bill as Shia's hand flew for her phone. She marveled at what she was seeing. Freya sent a photo of her sitting in her car, her blouse was unbuttoned and her lacey bra on display.

"I could really use some company." 15 Minutes ago.

"She's paying the bill now." Shia sent back.

"That's too bad."

Freya caught the waitress coming out of the kitchen with a bill for her other table.

"Hey... I know you've caught our conversation... we were wondering if you would be interested in joining us tonight?"

The waitress blushed. "I would actually."

Freya gave a sweet smile. "I'm Freya.. My partner is Shia."

"Maddie." She smiled.

"When do you get off?" Freya asked.

Maddie looked down at the bill in her hands. "You're actually my last table, but I'd have to clean up which usually only takes me thirty to forty-five minutes."

Freya handed her phone to Maddie as she walked away.

Maddie made her way to the table as she set the dessert and Freya's phone down on the table.

Shia eyed the phone as she looked up at her. "So it's a yes?"

Maddie blushed as she nodded.

"You don't have a partner or anyone you need to let know beforehand?" Shia asked.

Freya was waiting on an Uber as Shia was waiting for Maddie with her card. She set the book down and went to walk away. "Wait." Shia called.

Maddie eyed the $100 and $50 that she gave her. "We will see you soon... don't worry about freshening up." She said as she winked. "Come straight to the address." She said as she walked away.

Getting into the Uber Freya took a photo of them both, she included the photo in a text she was forming for Maddie.
